Swimming pool safety for children

Observance of hygiene rules in the swimming pool

Adults and children must follow hygiene rules when using the swimming pool. This prevents rapid contamination of the water and protects against possible infection. A coach will not allow a child to participate in swimming if he/she does not havemedical certificate;
a special suit (leotard for girls, swimming trunks for boys)
a cap (hair must be removed);
a towel;

Before the activity, children shower, get checked by the medical staff and use the toilet (if necessary). It is forbidden to enter the swimming hall wearing outerwear and outdoor shoes.

Swimming safety precautions

Water may not only be healthy, it may also be fatal. Beginner swimmers should keep to simple rules to prevent accidents in the process.

Keep to the right side of the pool and overtake the swimmer ahead on the left side. Performing the trainer’s tasks is hard work. A tired child should know that it is only possible to rest in the corner of the lane so as not to disturb the others. It is strictly forbidden to push, jump from the bollards, swim across the pool or disturb other athletes. Quietness must not be forgotten. For a mock cry for help, a visitor may be suspended from training.

Precautions for children in the pool

Children are the most active visitors to the aquatic complex. They get excited, often running to be the first to hit the designated lane. You must not do so, as the floor around the pool can be slippery. Particular attention should be paid to the choice of shoes. They will help prevent you from falling.

Another danger at the swimming pool is sharp tile corners and metal staircase handrails. To avoid falling and hitting a child, he has to move in steps.

Instructors do not allow children and youth, who are not able to swim 25 m in any style, to swim in deep water (more than 1.5 m). More professional training is only possible after the completion of basic training and standards.

Advice for parents

Some parents, who fear children may have allergic reactions, apply creams or other cosmetics to their children. Such actions are a gross violation of hygiene norms, which is why they are strictly forbidden.

Young children are always curious, so it should be made clear to them before the lesson begins that it may be dangerous to enter the technical and service rooms. The trainer is responsible for the child during the lesson, but parents should also make the necessary explanations to the child.

Dads and mothers are also always warned that a young swimmer may only be fed 1.5-2 hours before training. The food should not be heavy, so that an overstuffed stomach does not interfere with training.
